With his flawless technique and natural musicality, pianist Özgür Ünaldı has a rigorous interpretation presented with an unmatched meticulousness.
Özgür Ünaldı, who won the second prize in the field of piano at the 17th International Johannes Brahms Competition held in Austria, became the first Turkish pianist to receive an award in the history of the competition, and won the jury’s “best Brahms interpretation” with three rounds of outstanding performance.
Özgür Ünaldı started his piano education at an early age, continued his education at Bilkent University Faculty of Music and Performing Arts with the famous pianist Prof. Gülnara Aziz (Professor Nasedkin’s student) and graduated as the “First in Department and Faculty”. Mr. Ünaldı then got accepted to the famous Moscow - Tchaikovsky State Conservatory.
Mr. Ünaldı had the chance to work with Prof. Irina Plotnikova, one of the most important representatives of the Russian piano school in Moscow. He successfully completed his artistic proficiency studies in the Tchaikovsky State Conservatory.
He contributed to the music literature with his latest research which is about interpreting Mozart’s music. The research is developed on Prof. Robert Levin’s findings. The research can be summarized as the interplay of principles of detailed and questioning interpretation fed by immense imagination with science.
Mr. Ünaldı is also a composer. He worked with Hatıra Ahmedli Cafer, Bujor Hoinic and Zarife Bakihanova on composition and composed many works such as Prelude, Toccata, Variations in different forms for solo piano and cadenzas for classical concertos, arrangements for double and trio instruments.
The Artist also continues his career in chamber music with Bosphorus Trio. All members of the Bosphorus Trio hold the Accademia Chigiana’s “Merit Diploma” in chamber music, signed by Günther Pichler (first violinist of the Alban Berg Quartet). Bosphorus Trio released their first Naxos album called “Turkish Piano Trios”.
Özgür Ünaldı is an associate professor at Bursa Uludağ University State Conservatory, as well. He is one of the most original artists of his generation.
